A fresh alternative to baked goodies, these bars are naturally sweet and chewy, a perfect dessert when you’re looking for something light and healthy.

Without the frosting, they also make a great take-along energy bar.

Crispy Fruit Chews

November 16, 2008

A vegan, sugar-free version of Rice Krispie squares, made with nut butter instead of marshmallow.  Still gooey, still chewy, chock-full of fruits and nuts.

Marbled Halvah

August 8, 2008

This high-calcium treat is common in Middle Eastern kitchens.  Made mostly of tahini (sesame paste), this is a great high-energy snack! I’ve created a version here with a chocolate swirl, but you can also leave it plain, or add chopped pistachios or dried fruits if you prefer.

Chocolate-Covered Caramels

February 27, 2008

Just because you can’t have milk or butter doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy rich, chewy caramels, studded with cashews, pecans or any other nut of your choice-and enrobed in dark chocolate.  Great for special occasions or gifts!
